Formed in 2007, Austin-based The Ripe have sprung forth from their roots in power-pop, folk, garage, and psychedelia while still being nurtured by more contemporary influences. Cultivated by the energy and hooks of power-pop favorites such as Big Star and The Nerves while consciously trying to bring to real life the Beatles White Album, these guys also feed upon equal doses of Forever Changes’ LOVE and The Kinks at their Village Green best. The Ripe just returned from a rejuvenating summer in the north of Spain where they created their full-length debut record on vintage BBC/Abbey road sound recording equipement at the fabled Circo Perrotti studios.
