Hailing from San Marcos and currently residing in the Austin area This Will Destroy You are accustomed to playing Emo’s while not out on the road, however tomorrow night will be their last show at the downtown venue before it closes at the end of December. Having released their long-awaited sophomore album Tunnel Blanket earlier this year the once cinematic post-rockers have grown into a much darker, more hard-hearted version of their previous selves. Incorporating more drone-like aspects to create a blend of indie rock some have dubbed “doomgaze,” Tunnel Blanket’s perpetual emotional onslaught is on par with the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Pelican. There’s no other band in town better equipped to open for This Will Destroy You than Tactics and they do not disappoint, be sure to catch both bands’ final performance at one of Austin’s most intimate venues.
