This Saturday August Burns Red and Silverstein, two of the most battle-tested metalcore bands from the past decade, are hitting Emo’s East on the first leg of their expansive U.S. tour. In 2005 August Burns Red exploded onto the scene with Thrill Seeker, an impressive debut that showcased their technical precision with an onslaught of complicated time signatures and brutal breakdowns. Each album that followed was only a more refined version of the latter, maintaining the same aggressive demeanor while upgrading gnarly hardcore riffs for arena-worthy lead lines. Last summer they released their fourth studio album, Leveler, via Solid State Records and it landed at No. 11 on the Billboard charts - amidst all the Keshas and Taylor Swifts, a metalcore band almost cracked the top ten. That should tell you that these guys are not to be overlooked, and with a bill as stacked as Saturday’s is, you’re not going to want to let this opportunity slip by.
