In 2005 Macklemore seemed to have the world in his grasp: fresh out of college he burst onto the Seattle hip-hop scene with his first full-length album The Language of My World, yet struggles with substance abuse threatened to jeopardize his ambitious start. It wasn’t until late 2008 that Macklemore teamed up with fellow Seattle-ite and producer Ryan Lewis on what would be the VS Redux EP, both using the event as a milestone marking the beginning of a collaborative journey that has since brought them half-way across the globe. Now clean and sober Macklemore uses his past addictions to fuel a newfound sense of creativity that has him rumored to be working on his second full-length album. Self-proclaimed Tropical Trip Pop group Champagne Champagne get things poppin’ early so don’t be late, tonight’s show should be full of surprises as Macklemore finally seems to be clicking on all cylinders.
