8 PM | $25/$30 | with Emancipator, Blockhead | Emo’s East
With electronic music so easy to create these days due to such readily-available software, nearly anyone with a decently powered computer and speedy fingers can put out an album. The question is, then, how does one differentiate oneself from the thousands, or possibly tens of thousands of up-and-coming electronic artists? For Simon Posford, the cerebrum major behind the London-based psytrance project known as Shpongle, it has usually involved a brilliant mix of jagged synths and sweeping world instruments; this time around, however, he brings with him the “Shpongletron,” a stage and light show guaranteed to cement his place as one of the best electronic acts on tour today. Centered around Shpongle’s mascot, a grinning, six-eyed mask (seen above) which radiates with a full spectrum of colors, Posford dons a massive tower that he uses as a command post, triggering samples while simultaneously dousing the crowd with an overwhelming laser light show. Fans of Beats Antique will not want to miss this total sensory overload - get there early to catch Emancipator, Blockhead and DJ CAM, and prepare to enter the Shpongletron Experience.
